Merry-go-rounds

Merry-go-rounds, i.e "carousels", owe their origins to Medieval jousting. Jousting was gradually replaced by "carousels", meaning "little battles", where horse riders would play games of skill while riding in a circle. The first pretend carousel was created for children in France in the early 18nth century.
